I'm no good at coming up with meaningful titles, but oh well.
This is an art project i did for one of my classes. Teacher let us have free reign over what we wanted to create, and i happened upon  gallery and she had some really fun pictures (i really recommend browsing her gallery). I'm really appreciative that she allowed me to use her picture, and more so that she liked the edit that i did.Originally i wanted to do either a stencil or vector of the picture but i just didnt have the time. I might consider touching it up with vectors in the near future. Still, i showed the printed version to my peers and teachers and they thought that my edit was good so i'm happy. About the piece itself. There's really no direct meaning/symbolism behind it, but i was inspired to do this based on some research i did on the classical art style i love and admire: Chiaroscuro, which i learned influenced Silk screen printing, stencils and other art forms (such as comics in Sin City) so i based the theme of this on pop art/stencils. Though instead of using dramatic, intense lighting like in Chiaroscuro i borrowed from pop artists like Warhol to use dramatic colors and simple shapes to convey something visually. I hope you all like. I'm happy to recieve any criticism about the piece. |
